Cultural Committee 2023-24

Shivaji College has an active Cultural Committee that provides a platform to students to hone and express their creative talents. There are seven societies under the cultural committee: Bizarre - The Fashion Society Reverb, Dictum - The Debating Society,` Footloose - The Dance Society, Reverb - The Music Society, Shutterbugs - The Photography Society, , Vayam - The Dramatics Society and Vibgyor - The Fine Art Society

CULTURAL ORIENTATION

The Cultural orientation 2023 - The Start of new chapters was held on September 9th, 2023 Objective to introduce freshers to the umbrella of seven sub-societies of the Cultural Society.

SHIVAJI BHONSLE HINDI PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE UNDER THE AEGIS OF SHIVRAJ 350

The Shivaji Bhonsle Hindi Parliamentary Debate under the aegis of ‘Shivraj 350’ was held on 28-30th October, 2023. The Chief Guest for the inaugural function was Prof. Shri Prakash Singh, Director, South Campus, University of Delhi and for the valedictory function was Sh. Uday Mahurkar, Author, Historian & Central Information Commissioner. A rolling trophy for the Shivaji Bhonsle Hindi Parliamentary Debate was also launched on this inaugural function of Shivraj 350.

ACRYLICA 2023

Acrylica 2023 was held on November 6th-7th, 2023 with an aim to explore new dimensions in fine arts with a new perspective of Mandala to learn it from the basic shapes and designs and to learn a better perspective of acrylic colors and making new shades. The Chief Guests for the event were Ms. Chetna Singla, Mandala artist and Ms. Mansi Garg, BFA in Fine Arts from Jamia Millia Islamia who hosted an Acrylic workshop on November 7th, 2023.

CINEDROME 2023

Shutterbugs – The Photography & Film Making Society organized ‘Cinedrome 2023’ to learn about Film Making and Photography. The Chief Guests for the event were Kshitiz Sheetak, Film Maker and Digital Creator and Chetan Sharma, Independent Photographer and Explorer. The workshop was organized with an aim to help the budding photographers and film makers to execute their ideas and skills with expert advice.

DIWALI MELA ‘ दीपोत्सव।’

‘Deep-Utsav - Where Tradition, Togetherness and Treasures Unite’ was organised on November 9th, 2023 to promote the Indian culture during the onset of Diwali season whilst also ensuring promoting small businesses and providing help to them in the time of need.

RAJYABHISHEK MAHOTSAV

One of the initiatives of our college in celebrating 350 years of the 'Coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj' and establishment of Hindavi Swaraj by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj named 'Shivraj' was the event ‘Rajyabhishek Mahotsav’ celebrated on November 30th, 2023. The Chief Guest, Sh. Mukesh Vinayak, Sangathan Mantri Indraprastha Kshetra, Vishwa Hindu Parishad gave a pivotal talk during the festivities, captivating the audience with its depth, vision and reflection on the institution’s and Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy. A spellbound cultural program followed the talk which was a tribute to the heroic, exemplary and outstanding legend Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

SHIVAJI BHONSALE ENGLISH PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE UNDER THE AEGIS OF SHIVRAJ 350

The Shivaji Bhonsale English Parliamentary Debate under the aegis of ‘Shivraj 350’ was held from January 20-22, 2024.

SHIVAJI JAYANTI

Shivaji College celebrated the 350th anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's coronation on February 19, 2024. Chief guest for the occasion was the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh, Guest of Honour was Sh. Vinod S. Tawde, Former Education Minister of Maharashtra. The highlight of the day was inauguration of the "Bhushan Granthalaya" library section honouring Shivaji Maharaj's memory. The unveiling of the Jijabai Academic Building highlighted the college's commitment to academic excellence. Two books were released on the occasion: ‘Deccan to Delhi A Journey of Shivaji and Shivaji College Ideas, Inspirations, Institutions faculty and students’ and the ‘Annual WDC Book - कुटुम्ब प्रबोधन’, enriching the literary landscape of the institution.

VIBRATIONS 2024

The annual cultural festival ‘Vibrations 2024’ was held on March 7-8, 2024. The festival was inaugurated on March 7, 2023 by Chief Guest, Padma Shri Dr. Soma Ghosh, Hindustani Classical Vocalist, Banaras Gharana. The first day was graced by performances by Sufinama – The Band, DJ Night by Revoic and second day by Bollywood singer Akhil.
