The Physics Society of Shivaji College - INVENIO organised an “ALUMNI TALK” by our two alumni’s of Physics Department on 27th August 2021 via Microsoft teams under the covenorship of Dr. Mamta with the patron being the principal of the college Dr. Shiv Kumar Sahdev. Dr. Umesh Kumar (Collaborateur Scientifue, Swiss Plasma Center, EPFL University, Switzerland) and Dr. Modhuchandra Laishram (Senior QA Engineer, ESI Group, India) addressed our physics students with their valuable talk. After their talk students interacted with them regarding future scope and opportunities of the course.
The society of Physics Society INVENIO provides a platform for the students to explore new horizons beyond the academic curriculum and organise yearly workshops, annual festival, national conference, alumni meet, and educational trips to research and development institution of high repute. The society also conducts talks by eminent physicist and scientists from diverse fields to motivate young minds. The Department also conducts the immensely prestigious National Graduate Physics Examination (NGPE), organised by Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT). This is a unique exam for highly meritorious physics students conducted by. The purpose of the Physics Department is to foster a spirit of learning and hence promote the welfare of the students by mentoring them both intellectually and morally.
The international Webinar was organised on October 9, 2020 at 2:30 PM IST. The title of the lecture was “Recent Trends in Material Science.” The keynote speakers were Dr. Seungbum Hong, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Korea and Dr. Sian E Dutton, Department of Chemistry, Cambridge, England.
International Webinar on Era of Optical clocks, Organised by Department of Physics, Shivaji College, in collaboration with Pabna University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh on December 4, 2020 at 9.30 AM (IST). The keynote speaker was American Nobel-laureate Physicist Dr. David Jeffrey Wineland who is working at the National Institute of Standard and Technology Physics Laboratory.

The national Webinar was organised on April 22, 2020 at 11 AM IST. The title of the lecture was “Piezoelectric Flexible Nanogenerator : A New and Renewable Energy Source.” The keynote speaker was Dr. Manoj Kumar Gupta who is working as a Scientist at CSIR - Advanced Materials and Processes Research Institute (CSIR-AMPRI) Bhopal.
The international Webinar was organised on April 23, 2020 at 2:30 PM IST. The title of the lecture was “Mechanical Properties of Thin films.” The keynote speaker for the same was Dr Alireza Farhadizadeh who is a Scientist at the University of West Bohemia, Pilsen, Czech Republic.
