Today Botany is not only restricted to fundamental and traditional knowledge, but also involves the modern and applied aspects like Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Plant Biotechnology, Bioinformatics etc. Now-a-days there are so many challenging areas in Botany, which motivates students to pursue an undergraduate honours programme that will help in developing their critical thinking, scientific reasoning, analytical skills, effective communication, and sensitivity towards environment and sustainable living.

Students applying in this programme would be trained in all areas of plant biology using a unique combination of core and elective papers with significant inter-disciplinary components. The programme also offers skill enhancement course in II year, which provides the wider employment opportunities for the students.
