Placement Cell

Shivaji College has an active Placement Cell that coordinates not only the hiring activities of the students but organizes various developmental activities that help in personality grooming and also gives them platforms to express themselves and enhance their soft skills. The College Placement Cell has had an eventful 2011-12. The Cell organized interactive sessions, special lectures and seminars so as to prepare the students for a smooth transition to their professional lives and face challenges of the corporate world.

Resultantly, In the last two years, since this cell has been constituted, the students of Shivaji College have found placement in reputed companies.

Composition of Placement Cell

The Placement cell has faculty members from various departments who are well versed about the needs of the students and understand the corporate world and career objectives of students.

The student coordinators have very crucial and important role to play in the placement cell .Apart from collecting data and information about different companies and opportunities available they are the connecting link between the placement cell and eligible students. The names and email ids of all these coordinators are accessible to the final year students who register themselves online for placements.

Events and Developmental activities by Placement Cell

At the onset of the session ,the committee not only coordinated the registration of students to the Central Placement Committee of Delhi University but also registered them online at Shivaji College website. This facility helps students submit their resumes to be considered for placements to be held in the college.
On 5th of September 2011, to mark Teachers’ day, the committee organized a slogan writing contest called “Har Ek Teacher Zaroori Hoota Hai..” that had an overwhelming response from students. This was a fun activity to let the students express themselves and show creativity.
To prepare the students for future, a talk cum interactive session on “The art of Resume writing” was conducted that had a wide participation of students from all streams.
The placement cell coordinated a preliminary round of Quiz conducted by United Minds for IIM Bangalore. Four teams cleared the preliminary round and went to Zonal level conducted in Gurgaon. Out of these, two teams have been shortlisted to represent our college in the finals to be held in March 2012 at IIM Bangalore. The teams selected for the final round are:
Kashish Verma, Sam Gulati, Yogesh from Bsc APS secured 4th position out of 72 teams.
Harshit Gupta, Dheeraj Sajnani and Manoj Katyal from BBE secured 10th position.

Hiring activities coordinated by Placement Cell

Hiring process began in October, 2011 and the following companies visited Shivaji College.

Thomson Digital was invited to the College for a placement session in the month of November and they shortlisted eleven students.
Capital IQ in the month of December at the company’s office.
Genpact in January 2012.
IBM in Jan 2012.
Infinity School of Management.

All the above companies conducted written tests, group discussions and personal interviews. The students exhibited exceptional skills and knowledge during these hiring activities. The current academic year has yet a lot in store for the students of Shivaji college as few more companies are expected to organize their on - campus hiring activities. The student coordinators along with faculty advisors are working with full enthusiasm and vigour to get the best of career opportunities for Shivajians.
